After its big win against Samsung, Apple named 8 Samsung products it wanted an injunction to ban from sale in the U.S. Apple wasn't content with that, though; USA Today reports on the state of the expanded list: "The new list of 21 products includes Samsung's flagship smartphone Galaxy S III as well as the Galaxy Note, another popular Android phone. If the court finds those devices are infringing Apple's patents and irreparably harming the U.S. company, it could temporarily halt sales in the U.S. market even before the trial begins."

LG's LS860 'Cayenne' visits the FCC, flaunts Sprint LTE bands

[![LG's LS860 'Cayenne' visits the FCC, flaunts Sprint LTE bands](http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2012/08/ls860-1346381461.jpg) ](http://www.engadget.com/2012/09/01/lg-lS860-cayenne-sprint-lte-fcc/)

After making [the](http://www.engadget.com/2012/05/24/lg-ls860-cayenne-blurrycam/) [rounds](http://www.engadget.com/2012/07/20/rumored-sprint-lg-ls860-cayenne-leaked-photo/) with [Mr. Blurry Cam](http://www.engadget.com/tag/MrBlurryCam/), Sprint's rumored LG LS860 'Cayenne' handset has taken a breather from its photo tour and made a stop at the FCC. The federal filing reveals that the smartphone uses LTE bands tailored for the Now Network (CDMA 850 / 1900; LTE Band 25) and totes NFC, Bluetooth 4.0, SVLTE (simultaneous voice and data) and the usual suspects of WiFi b/g/n and GPS. If other details previously gleaned from the grapevine hold true, the mobile will be powered by a flavor of Android 4.0, pack a 4-inch WVGA screen and a 1.2GHz dual-core S4 processor. There's no word from LG or [Big Yellow](http://www.engadget.com/tag/Sprint/) about the phone's official debut, but its FCC appearance means that it could soon show up packaged and _properly_ photographed in the US.

HBO Go 1.71 update adds support for Jelly Bean devices

[![HBO Go 1.71 update adds support for Jelly Bean devices](http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2012/07/hbogo-tablet.jpg) ](http://www.engadget.com/2012/09/01/hbo-go-1-71-update-adds-support-for-jelly-bean-devices/)

When it first landed on the [Kindle Fire,](http://www.engadget.com/2012/06/06/hbo-go-launches-for-kindle-fire-but-continues-to-avoid-other-and/) HBO Go for [Android tablets](http://www.engadget.com/2012/05/05/hbo-go-and-max-go-get-android-4-0-phone-support/) seemed like a dead cert. And, sure enough, it wasn't long before the service found its way on to slates with version 4.x, with one _minor_ exclusion -- those running Jelly Bean. Well, version 1.7.1 puts that all in the past, and now means the full gamut of Android users (unless you never made it past Donut) can join in the fun. Reading this on your [Nexus 7](http://www.engadget.com/2012/06/28/nexus-7-review/)? Make haste toward the source link for the download.

IFA 2012 wrap-up: Galaxy Note II, 84-inch 4K TVs, Windows 8 convertibles and much more

Europe's premier consumer electronics trade show has further cemented its status on the industry's radar, thanks in no small part to [Samsung](http://www.engadget.com/tag/Samsung,ifa), [Sony](http://www.engadget.com/tag/Sony,ifa) and a shocking number of [84-inch 4K TVs](http://www.engadget.com/tag/4K,ifa). Since Wednesday, we've welcomed a brand new [Galaxy Note](http://www.engadget.com/2012/08/29/samsung-galaxy-note-ii/), a healthy heaping of smaller mobile phones, a few cameras (including that [Android stunner](http://www.engadget.com/2012/08/29/samsung-ek-gc100-galaxy-camera-hands-on/)) and enough [laptops](http://www.engadget.com/tag/laptop,ifa) and [tablets](http://www.engadget.com/tag/tablet,ifa) to keep us computing well into the fall. From your perspective, the show ran silky smooth, though Berlin's mobile data plague continued to take its toll on our productivity, while the Messe's absolutely insane sprawl left us with a few well-worn shoes. As always, we still had a blast bringing you all the latest gear as it hit the floor, and German hospitality (and beer) made the setbacks a bit more bearable. Since there's oh so much to get through, we're sorting out our grouping of news and hands-ons from major manufacturers, followed by some smaller device makers and a few one-hit wonders -- all tidied up just past the break.

judgecorp writes "Although Adobe wants to can mobile Flash, the Android Flash app has returned to the Google Play store in the UK after disappearing earlier this month. It has come back because of pressure from large organisations, in particular the BBC, whose popular iPlayer video on demand service uses Flash. The Android app is back, apparently for as long as it takes the BBC to move to HTML5."

NBC rebrands Olympics app as NBC Sports Live Extra, promises streams for a wider athletic universe

[![NBC rebands Olympics app as Sports Live Extra, promises live streams for a wider athletic universe](http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2012/08/nbc-sports-live-extra.jpg) ](http://www.engadget.com/2012/09/01/nbc-rebrands-olympics-app-as-nbc-sports-live-extra-promises-str/)

NBC's [Olympics Live Extra](http://www.engadget.com/2012/07/12/nbc-2012-london-olympics-second-screen-streaming-apps/) may have lost its original _raison d'etre_ after the flame was extinguished in [London](http://www.engadget.com/tag/london,olympics), but that doesn't mean it's time to purge the app from your phone's home screen. An update for Android and iOS users alike is giving the title new life as NBC Sports Live Extra, and the name makes it quite obvious that you'll have a lot more to watch than just biathlons and fencing. NBC expects to offer live streaming for the European PGA, LPGA, MLS, NHL, Notre Dame, PGA, Ryder Cup and other events or leagues culled from the channel [formerly known as Versus](http://www.engadget.com/2011/04/20/nbc-sports-group-locks-up-nhl-broadcasts-for-10-years-plans-to/). Highlights, social sharing and other side features will carry over as well. You don't have to do a thing beyond check for a new version to make the switch to the already updated apps, but you will have to subscribe to conventional TV to use them properly: NBC is requiring [TV Everywhere](http://www.engadget.com/tag/TVEverywhere/) authentication for access to most of what's on offer from NBC Sports Network and the Golf Channel.

judgecorp writes "Although Adobe wants to can mobile Flash, the Android Flash app has returned to the Google Play store in the UK after disappearing earlier this month. It has come back because of pressure from large organisations, in particular the BBC, whose popular iPlayer video on demand service uses Flash. The Android app is back, apparently or as long as it takes the BBC to move to HTML5."

wiredmikey writes "It seems Russia's defense ministry doesn't trust Google's tablet computers: a new Android device presented to a top Russian government official boasts encryption and works with software and a global positioning system made in Russia, the AFP reports. The OS has all the functional capabilities of an Android operating system but none of its hidden features that send users' private data to Google, addressing concerns that data stored by Google could slip into the hands of the US government and expose some of their most secret and sensitive communications. Two versions of the tablet will supposedly be made -- one for consumers and one for defense needs."

Grooveshark app nowhere to be found, suddenly disappears from Google Play again

[![Grooveshark app nowhere to be found, suddenly disappears from Google Play again](http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2012/08/groovesh8-31-1346426660.jpg) ](http://www.engadget.com/2012/08/31/grooveshark-app-disappears-from-google-play/)

Oh poor, poor [Grooveshark](http://www.engadget.com/tag/grooveshark). Not long after surprisingly making its way back to the [<strike>Android Market </strike>](http://www.engadget.com/2012/03/06/google-play-replaces-android-market/)Google Play store, the streaming service's Android application appears to be long gone yet again. If you'll recall, the music app was pulled from Mountain View's shop a few months back; this due to many claims from labels which suggested Grooveshark was allowing users to download tunes at no cost. Still, mum's the word on why the app has been nixed out of Google Play [this time around](http://www.engadget.com/2012/08/29/grooveshark-back-in-google-play-controversy/) -- especially after the service announced it had worked closely with the Android maker to get the official app reinstalled. For what it's worth, however, word on the internet is the application can still be installed via the Grooveshark site, but we'll have to leave that dicey decision up to you.

Mark/Space Welcome Home eases us into new Nokia Lumias, lifts the burden of app hunting

[![Nokia, MarkSpace ease us into new Lumias with Welcome Home](http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2012/08/markspace-welcome-home-to-windows-phone-lumia-edition.jpg) ](http://www.engadget.com/2012/08/31/mark-space-welcome-home-eases-us-into-new-nokia-lumias/)

So you just bought a [Nokia Lumia 900](http://www.engadget.com/2012/04/03/nokia-lumia-900-review/) and are wondering how on Earth you'll get all your old phone's data over to that new Windows Phone. Nokia and [Mark/Space](http://www.engadget.com/tag/MarkSpace/) have you covered with a new, [Lumia](http://www.engadget.com/tag/Lumia/)-tuned Welcome Home to Windows Phone app. The Mac- and Windows-based utility goes beyond just shuffling calendars, contacts and media; if you're jumping ship from Android, a BlackBerry or an iPhone, it will scan apps linked to the outgoing hardware and offer QR codes to download either direct or close-enough equivalents for the Windows Phone world. Fresh Lumia owners might appreciate the price more than anything -- unlike the Android porting tool, the Lumia version is a free treat just for joining the Nokia flock. It's available today, but we have a feeling that most of the demand will come after [September 5th](http://www.engadget.com/2012/08/15/nokia-microsoft-windows-phone/).

Going All-Google To Replace Your PC and TV Service

GMGruman writes "James Curnow writes 'Google's vision of computing involves tossing your PC or Mac and moving to a cloud-centric, all-Google ecosystem. Call it the Googleplex: a mix of the Chrome OS-based Chromebox PC or Chromebook laptop, one or more Android tablets -- perhaps a 10-inch model for work and a 7-inch Nexus 7 for entertainment on the go -- and a Nexus Q home entertainment system that you control via an Android device.' So he takes the 'Googleplex' for a test drive to see how well it delivers on the Android/Chrome OS vision." But what about throwing xbmc or MythTV onto an old (or cheap new) box with a couple of huge drives (HDTV's being glorified monitors and all)?

RIM details BlackBerry Enterprise Service 10: IT guys get a single web console for their various tools

[![](http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2012/06/jrv8dsc02862-1340136266.jpg) ](http://www.engadget.com/2012/08/31/rim-details-blackberry-enterprise-service-10/)

We [already knew](http://www.engadget.com/2012/08/22/rim-says-blackberry-enterprise-server-10-users-get-legacy-device-support/) that RIM was readying a new version of its BlackBerry Enterprise Server to ship alongside the first BB10 devices in early 2013. Today, the company detailed the package, formally known as BlackBerry Enterprise Service 10. The big story here is that already-existing IT tools like BlackBerry Mobile Fusion, BlackBerry Device Service and Universal Device Service will be accessible from a single web console. The company also clarified that BlackBerry Device Service and Universal Device Service can run off separate servers, or just one. Take note, though, that the older BES 5+ will still need its own server for the time being. As we previously reported, too, the newest version of BES will offer legacy support to older devices -- specifically, it can support PlayBook tablets, phones running BlackBerry 7 OS or higher as well as iOS and Android devices.

Google Play's End of Summer Sale outed by discounted apps, lets the Lorax speak for the savings

[![Google Play's End of Summer Sale outed by discounted app descriptions, lets the Lorax speak for the savings](http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2012/08/loraxu33ess.jpg) ](http://www.engadget.com/2012/08/31/google-plays-end-of-summer-sale-outed-by-discounted-apps/)

It looks like a handful of select apps have outed Mountain View's Labor day plans: Google Play's End of Summer Sale. [_SwiftKey 3_](http://www.engadget.com/2012/06/21/swiftkey-3-for-android-out-of-beta/), _The Lorax -- Dr. Seuss_, Square Enix's _Crystal Defenders_, and other apps are now brandishing deep discounts, almost uniformly attributing the savings to the End of Summer Sale. Not every title on discount claims to be part of the unannounced event, however -- [_Max Payne Mobile_](http://www.engadget.com/2012/06/12/max-payne-mobile-hits-android-june-14th/) slashed its price by 67 percent without so much as a hint at the alleged festivities. Google hasn't made the event official just yet, but we'd be willing to wager the deals will run through the holiday weekend. Check out the source link below to start making the most of your Google [gift cards](http://www.engadget.com/2012/08/16/google-play-gift-cards-show-up-for-real/).

Available now for a mere $100 -- without any contracts, of course -- this 3.5-inch, [Ice Cream Sandwich](http://www.engadget.com/2011/12/01/android-4-0-ice-cream-sandwich-review/) device boasts some pretty run-of-the-mill features, including an HVGA LCD (no word on the resolution), a single-core, 1GHz Snapdragon CPU, 2GB of built-in storage which can be expanded to 32GB via microSD and, as you can see above, a full-on, slide-out QWERTY keyboard. Naturally, [Virgin Mobile's](http://www.engadget.com/tag/virgin+mobile) betting on folks to bundle the cheap handset with one of its unlimited data plans -- not to mention Kyocera's handset is [yet another addition](http://www.engadget.com/2012/08/22/virgin-mobile-reveals-samsung-galaxy-reverb/) to the prepaid carrier's _rising_ smartphone lineup. Those interested can give the Rise a better look down below, where a nice gallery filled with charming press shots awaits.

More Samsung Galaxy Stellar details spill, September 6th launch appears likely

[![More Samsung Galaxy Stellar details spill, September 6th launch appears likely ](http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2012/08/stellarcl4a.jpeg) ](http://www.engadget.com/2012/08/31/samsung-galaxy-stellar-launch/)

More details about the [Samsung Galaxy Stellar 4G LTE](http://www.engadget.com/tag/SamsungGalaxyStellar/), Verizon's upcoming budget offering, are now surfacing from the midst of the carrier's internal systems. Our source has confirmed that the Stellar is now expected to launch on September 6th, and has provided some documentation that reveals the vast majority of the phone's spec sheet. Starter Mode once again gets mentioned here -- according to the docs, it's a "new, simple way to interact Access apps and control device settings with ease." As far as specs go, these docs back up the [details leaked](http://www.engadget.com/2012/08/27/samsung-galaxy-stellar-gets-premature-outing-at-best-buy/) on Best Buy's website earlier: Android 4.0, a 1.2GHz dual-core CPU, 3.2MP rear camera and 1.3MP front-cacing cam and 800 x 480 WVGA display. Additionally, Amazon Kindle, Audible and Zappos apps are mentioned, as well as Bluetooth 4.0 and 4GB internal storage. Dimensionally, the phone will weigh 4.73 ounces and measures 121.92 x 63.75 x 11.94mm (yes, that last measurement is for thickness). Given the lower-end specs, the Stellar likely won't launch to a grand amount of fanfare -- _especially_ if the [$100 price point](http://www.engadget.com/2012/08/24/samsung-galaxy-stellar-verizon-amazon-apps/) is accurate. Check out our gallery below to see a few more images of the crucial docs.

As a sidenote, many of the images will have creatively blurred-out sections in order to protect the identity of our source.

Sony Xperia sola: a pint-sized Android handset with floating touch (hands-on)

[![Sony Xperia sola a pintsized Android handset with floating touch](http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2012/08/sola-1346424678.jpg) ](http://www.engadget.com/2012/08/31/sony-xperia-sola-a-pint-sized-android-handset-with-floating-tou/)

Sometimes getting lost in the maze-like sprawl of the [Messe](http://www.engadget.com/event/ifa-2012) can turn up unexpected surprises. In this case, we chanced upon Sony's [Xperia sola](http://www.engadget.com/2012/03/13/sony-outs-xperia-sola/) hiding in plain sight at Sparhandy's booth. The petite Android handset, formerly codenamed "Pepper", was officially announced earlier this spring and even crept up in FCC filings. But until now, we'd never had quality hands-on time with the 3.7-inch Gingerbread device. For its diminutive size, the wee phone sports a 854 x 480 LCD display powered by Mobile BRAVIA Engine, a dual-core CPU clocked at 1GHz, 5-megapixel rear shooter and NFC functionality for Smart Tag use.

As you might expect, the sola fits quite nicely into the palm of your hand, though its tiny screen can pose an issue for those with larger digits. And speaking of touch navigation, this Sony phone separates itself from the rest of the Xperia pack with the inclusion of floating touch technology -- much like the Galaxy Note 2. What's that? Well, turns out this device can detect your finger's presence up to 20mm away from the screen, allowing users to highlight links, but only from within the browser. Apart from that neat touch, which in practice, is a bit awkward to properly use, the phone functions exactly as it should for the low-to-mid range it occupies. Performance is appreciably quick and pages loaded up in the browser in just about 30 seconds time.

There's still no word on whether the sola will ever make it stateside, but if you're keen to see that hovering functionality in action, head past the break for a video demo and check out our gallery below.

Jelly Bean makes a surprise appearance on Vodafone's Samsung Galaxy S III LTE

Blink and you might have missed it -- we almost did. It's Android [Jelly Bean](http://www.engadget.com/tag/JellyBean/) (4.1.1), running on a German [Samsung Galaxy S III LTE](http://www.engadget.com/2012/07/05/samsung-galaxy-s-iii-lte-korea-launch-date-july-9th/) -- what seems to be a plum colored model, to be exact. It's not the first time we've seen it in some [official form](http://www.engadget.com/2012/08/15/official-jelly-bean-for-samsung-galaxy-s-iii-spotted-in-the-wild/), but playing with the handset on display at Vodafone's IFA booth certainly made the inevitability of the upgrade all that much more real. Using the handset next to one running ICS, the differences in the buttery smoothness weren't too apparent, though the OS certainly felt quick. Video evidence after the break.

Huawei's Ascend G600 will be available starting next month in 'select markets'

By now, you're likely aware that Huawei has pushed out a plethora of new slabs at [IFA 2012](http://www.engadget.com/event/ifa-2012), including a couple of fresh [Ascends](http://www.engadget.com/2012/08/31/huawei-ascend-330-hands-on/) and a pair of new [MediaPads](http://www.engadget.com/2012/08/31/huawei-mediapad-7-lite-hands-on/). What you see above is the company's G600, which, as you might've noticed during [our hands-on time](http://www.engadget.com/2012/08/31/huawei-ascend-g600-hands-on/) with this 4.5-inch handset, comes boasting a slice of Google's [Ice Cream Sandwich](http://www.engadget.com/2011/12/01/android-4-0-ice-cream-sandwich-review/) (4.0.4, to be precise), a dual-core 1.2GHz CPU, 4GB of onboard storage and a screen resolution of 960 x 540 -- of course, let's not forget it's also sporting the novel [Emotion UI](http://www.engadget.com/2012/08/30/huawei-shows-off-early-version-of-emotion-ui-for-android-packs/). More importantly, however, [Huawei's](http://www.engadget.com/tag/Huawei/) noting the G600 is set to be up for grabs as soon as next month -- but, unfortunately, that's only expected to be in some undisclosed "select markets." Either way, at least you know you'll be able to take your pick between that Mysterious Black or Pure White when it eventually comes to your area (if it does at all).
