Just yesterday we brought news that Apple had launched iOS 6.1.3 to plug a particularly unpleasant security hole that allowed the iPhone 's lock screen to be bypassed.

Google Launches 'Keep' To Rival Evernote
Today Google launched 'Google Keep', a mobile note-taking service to rival software like Evernote. It works on devices running Android 4.0 or later, and there's also a web interface (which is struggling under launch load as of this writing). Google describes the service thus: "With Keep you can quickly jot ideas down when you think of them and even include checklists and photos to keep track of what's important to you. Your notes are safely stored in Google Drive and synced to all your devices so you can always have them at hand. If it's more convenient to speak than to type that's fine--Keep transcribes voice memos for you automatically. There's super-fast search to find what you're looking for and when you're finished with a note you can archive or delete it." Fans of Google Reader will probably be a bit hesitant to pick this up.

Google Play Books now available in Mexico
[![Google Play Books launches in Mexico](http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2013/03/google-play-books-mexico.jpg) ](http://www.engadget.com/2013/03/20/google-play-books-now-available-in-mexico/)
Despite going on quite the [world](http://www.engadget.com/2012/09/24/google-play-books-app-japan-translation-place/) [tour](http://www.engadget.com/2013/02/28/google-play-books-comes-to-india-with-an-updated-android-app/), Google Play Books hasn't been available as close by as Mexico. That's been rectified: the online bookstore is now open in the country, with both local titles and prices in Pesos. As with some other countries, the expansion also gives Mexicans their first real taste of Google Play content beyond Android apps. Those who have a Galaxy in Guadalajara just need to start browsing.

Google Currents for Android now supports audio playback, improves syncing between devices
[![Google Currents for Android now supports audio playback, improves syncing between devices](http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2013/03/googlecurrents320.jpg) ](http://www.engadget.com/2013/03/20/google-currents-for-android-update/)
We don't see the Android -- or iOS, for that matter -- version of [Google Currents ](http://www.engadget.com/tag/google%20currents/)get quite as many updates as, say, [Google+](http://www.engadget.com/2011/06/30/edit-google-for-android-app-hands-on/) or [Maps](http://www.engadget.com/2012/06/27/google-maps-offline-android/), but today its Mountain View creators have stuffed the app with some tidbits that are sure to come in handy to those using it on a daily basis. Most notably, Currents for Android is now more friendly with editions including audio content, adding a media bar which will allow for easy playback of such files within the application. Additionally, Google also gave its [magazine-like app](http://www.engadget.com/2012/04/11/google-currents-app-updated-with-international-support-offline/) a boost by enhancing syncing between devices, making it rather facile for folks to pick up where they left off on a story. Go on and grab the updated version now from Google Play -- in the meantime, we'll still be pondering whether or not we should insert [a shameless plug](http://www.engadget.com/2012/01/02/engadget-now-available-in-google-currents/).

Google Keep note taking service officially launches on web and Android (video)
[![Google Keep note taking website and Android app launch along with an intro video](http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2013/03/googlekeep-app.jpg) ](http://www.engadget.com/2013/03/20/google-keep-launch/)
The Google Keep note taking service that [leaked out a few days ago](http://www.engadget.com/2013/03/18/google-keep-note-app-leak/) has officially launched. There's a website and an Android app for now, and a post on the Google Drive blog it's intended for users to quickly jot down ideas. They're saved on Google Drive, and on Android 4.2.2 there's a lock screen widget available for even easier access. Check after the break for a trailer explaining the new service's features, or just hit the links below to try it out for yourself.
