Amazon releases Kindle apps and e-books into China

Amazon has started its Chinese [Kindle](http://www.engadget.com/tag/kindle/) incursion by launching the reader app for Android and iOS in that market, along with a large selection of e-books. There's no mention of any Kindle devices like the [Fire HD](http://www.engadget.com/2012/11/19/amazon-kindle-fire-hd-8.9-review/) in the nation yet, but Amazon just did a [similar launch](http://www.engadget.com/2012/12/06/amazon-and-google-selling-ebooks-in-brazil/) in Brazil and said the hardware would be along there in a few weeks. Four Kindle devices recently showed up China's FCC-like Radio Management Agency as well, according to _TNW_, another good omen for those anxious to get the devices in that country. And the number who want one could be considerable -- China's been carrying on an illicit love affair with the Kindle for [quite awhile](http://www.engadget.com/2010/11/01/3g-kindle-a-hit-on-the-chinese-gray-market-for-its-ability-to-by/), after all.
